Where do lessons take place?

Lessons take place at Day Joy Studio located in Ravena at 6850 35th Ave NE. 

The space is accessible with a ramp from the parking lot and no stairs to the studio space. 

How much do lessons cost? 

30 minute lessons are $45 billed at the beginning of each month ($180 for 4 weekly lessons)

55 minute lessons are $75 billed at the beginning of each month ($300 for 4 weekly lessons)

What if I can’t make a lesson?

Each student is allotted 2 refunded cancellations during 52 weeks of lessons but must give 24 hours notice of cancellation. 

Every student cancelled lesson beyond the first 2 will not be refunded. 

If I must cancel a lesson and cannot reschedule, the student will be refunded. 

Make up lessons will be offered as there is availability but cannot be guaranteed. 

What is your sick policy?

If either student or teacher is sick, I ask you (and me!) to stay home. Zoom lessons will be offered on days either of us is sick.

What if I’m late?

Lessons begin at the start of your designated time slot and time cannot be added to the end of a lesson if you are late. 

There will be no partial refunds for late arrivals.

What do I need to bring?

I use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventure curriculum which can be purchased online or in person. I highly recommend supporting your local music shop for a fully immersive experience! Ted Brown Music at 1006 NE 50th St is a great place to purchase your music. 

If you would like me to purchase music for you, I can do so and bill you at the start of month. 

I will send you the exact curriculum to purchase before our first lesson so you know what to get.

Will there be recitals?

Absolutely! There will be two recitals per year in the Spring and Winter. Recitals are not mandatory but highly encouraged! Recitals are a great way to meet other students, hear what they’ve been working on and to share your unique sound.

Where can my parent/guardian/siblings wait?

Accompanying adults and siblings may wait in the lounge area at Day Joy Studio where there are books, puzzles and comfy seating areas to relax in. 

They are also welcome to drop off students for the allotted time. Day Joy Studio is directly across from Top Pot donuts and Grateful Bread Cafe. There is also a Safeway down the street as well as many other shops and restaurants. 

Where do I park?

You may park in the parking lot at the studio. Unless you are staying at Day Joy Studio for drop in or scheduled classes post piano lesson, please be sure to move your car after the lesson is finished. 

Will there be a friendly studio dog snuggled in the corner?

Sometimes, if you are okay with dogs! My assistant Millie is an 11 year old Boxer mix who loves sleeping, saying hi to folks of all ages and listening to music. I may have her in the studio from time to time unless the student would prefer dog free lessons!
